$16,000.00 worth of prizes were earned by Saipoyi students from Kindergarten to grade 5. Awards were drawn from names submitted at each grade level. To be entered, students had to abide by the 3 A's (attendance, attitude, academics) and be a supportive part of the Saipoyi school community. The prizes include: Nintendo DSI's, computer notebooks, IPods, & bikes.
Winners of DSI's and computer notebooks were as follows:
K4 - Harlee Bare Shin Bone, Wilton Frank, Ryder Scout, Alexander Three Persons
K5 - Tayshawn Tallman, Zack Day Chief, Guy Wolf Child, Stratus Bruised Head, Angela Cotton, Kiera Scout
Winners of Ipod's, bikes and computers from grade 1 to 5 were as follows:
Grade 1 - Nathan Big Sorrel Horse - bike, Kage Day Chief - computer, Cierra Blood - computer, Draven Fox - IPod, Creedon Black Water - bike, Emery Wadsworth - computer, Teslyn Many Fingers - computer, Cherise Day Rider - bike, Leland Eagle Speaker - IPod
Grade 2 - Mary Minde - bike, Jeziah Delaney - computer, Tosh Wells - bike, Tyre Rabbit - computer, Daylen Day Chief - computer, Kaori Curly Rider - IPod, Jagger Day Chief - IPod.
Grade 3 - Maria Crying Head - IPod, Tex Day Chief - IPod, Renee Knife - computer, Cole Weasel Head - IPod, Ashtyn Wolf Child - IPod, Hayden Weasel Head - computer
Also for grade 3, Martina Bruised Head was the winner of an E-Reader - Martina won first place for her excellent submission in the Writing Contest.
Grade 4 - Jordyn Bruised Head - bike, Shaylize Day Rider - computer, Kariza Many Chief - IPod (highest achievement in reading), Marlee Oka - bike, Taylor Crow Eagle - computer, Cassy Little Bear - IPod, Angelina Striped Wolf - computer.
Grade 5 - Buster Hunt - computer, Jaden Wadsworth - bike, Jet Day Chief - IPod, Mercedes Wolf Child - computer, Stephanie Prairie Chicken - computer, Shadi Day Chief - bike
Prizes were donated as follows:
First Nation's Student Success Program: 18 computers, 10 IPod's, 5 Nintendo DSI's
Saipoyi Community School Parent Advisory Council: 2 computers (Lionel Weasel Head, Dennis Chief Calf, Les Wolf Child, Marilyn Weasel Head)
Kainai Development - 1 bike (Charlie Fox)
Blood Tribe Recreation: 1 bike
Kainai Resources Inc. : 5 bikes (Ron Thunder Chief, David Shade, Rod First Rider, Doug, Sheldon & Franklin
Blood Tribe Irrigation Management: 1 bike (Calvin CrossChild)
Saipoyi Community School staff & students thank all donors for their generous contributions.
The school year wrapped up on Thursday, June 21th with a Pow wow in the Saipoyi Community School gym. All parents and community members were invited to this event.
The Pow wow was dedicated to the bus drivers for Saipoyi Community School. Andrew Day Chief, bus owner, contributed $$ to this closing event.
