Our History
In 1988 - The Blood Tribe (Kainaiwa) took control of education, Previously, controlled by Indian and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC). This change followed a 1987 campaign and referendum, resulting in a "yes" vote from the Tribe’s members.
Kainai Board of Education (KBE), originally founded as the Kainai Education Society, is guided by the spirit of Kainayssini and has been dedicated to local control of education for 36 years. KBE continue to welcome students and grow in knowledge, building on the legacy of self-determination.
KBE, a nation of Siksikatsitapi-Blackfoot Confederacy, since time immemorial.
KBE, a nation of Treaty No.7, since September 22, 1877.
